Montgomery County Woman Celebrates 100 at Normandy Farm

Posted by | Normandy Farm, Uncategorized | No Comments

A woman from Montgomery County celebrated her 100th birthday a little early Sunday.

Grace Ricci Bergman was born on December 3, 1915 – the third of ten children – and grew up in Lansdale.

During the Great Depression, Bergman established a club of women to collect food and donations.

During World War Two, she enlisted in the Marines, and served from 1943 to 1945.

Sources tell Action News Bergman, who was married for 46 years and has one daughter, is the longest living female Marine in the state of Pennsylvania.

Why You Should Get On Par With A Blue Bell CC Membership

The Blue Bell Country Club of Montgomery County is definitely setting a precedent for what an enterprising country club should be. With the Blue Bell area recently claiming the dubious distinction of being one of the snobbiest towns in America (don’t worry, that’s a good thing), according to onlyinyourstate.com, we believe that this country club is on the right track.

Although the Signature Arnold Palmer 18-hole golf course (designed by the legend himself) is certainly the premier anchor of this private 220-acre campus, members are offered so much more than golf.

In addition to a wide array of inclusive golf tournaments, there is a fully equipped fitness center, crystal-clear outdoor swimming pool and cabana and a professional driving range. Inside, the relaxed and inviting Putter’s Grill with its welcoming bar, wraparound deck and breathtaking golf-course view is host to some of the most classically creative menu selections in the area. Traditional fare such as wings, hoagies or flatbreads are always popular. Or, indulge in some of the seasonal “modern American” cuisine choices by Executive Chef Mtele “Abu” Abubakar including crispy skin salmon, chicken Marsala or a crowning Catch of the Day.

Keeping with current craft beer trends, Putter’s Grill also scores with a rave-worthy list of brews that include Sly Fox, Dogfish Head and, of course, local favorite Victory. “We love supporting our local breweries and enjoy coordinating onsite beer (and wine) tasting events where the brewers speak about the process and the product,” boasted Clegg.

Tesla Motors brings ‘showroom’ to Whitpain for a day

Without the high-performance drama of squealing tires, the curiously quiet Tesla Model S85D premium electric-motored sedan simply punches onward with uncannily smooth and elegant acceleration, like a Jaguar that’s gone on a gas-free diet.

Potential buyer Chris Corbett of Montgomeryville is claiming his share of head-turning street cred behind the wheel of the so-called “Car of Tomorrow,” the history-making EV that doesn’t operate or look like a glorified golf cart.

The road-hugging tire grip seemed more than adequate as the father of three throttled this marriage of luxury and flawless power full speed ahead down the back roads of Whitpain, along with a reporter in the back seat and a Tesla Motors salesman next to him.

Back at Normandy Farm Hotel, he tested the car’s alleged ability to burn any Ferrari or Shelby Mustang in its way, with a sprinting capability of 0 to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds.
